What is it and from what?
The main ingredient in our Percuro recipes is high-quality insect protein. Specifically, it comes from the protein-packed, clean little larvae called Hermetia illucens. Insect protein is just as nutritious as protein from traditional animal sources, but does not contain harmful substances such as antibiotics, and requires much less water and land to grow the larvae. We continue to use only plant-based, sustainable ingredients and plenty of superfoods to ensure the holistic health of your pets and minimize environmental impact.
How is Percuro made?
Unlike traditional meat-based dog food, we do not use animal products in our recipes – traditional meat-based pet food typically derives its protein from the by-products of the human food industry, contributing to the ever-increasing demand for animal-based products. With around 500 million pet cats and dogs worldwide, that's a lot of mouths to feed. The livestock industry is known to emit nearly 20% of global greenhouse gases.
However, the larvae used in our pet food products are specially bred for our purposes. We ensure that all of our Hermetia illucens larvae are healthy, happy and have all the nutrients and space they need to thrive. More protein comes from oats, which are rich in essential B vitamins and minerals, including manganese and phosphorus. We then combine this protein base with our special blend of vegetables, vitamins and minerals, including chamomile and hemp seed oil, to ensure a shiny coat, healthy skin and a good mood.
Are Percuro packaging recyclable?

Our boxes are made from FSC-certified, fully recyclable cardboard sourced from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits. Our bags are fully recyclable monomaterial PE plastics.
Are Percuro recipes fully approved?
Really so ! We have received all the necessary approvals to sell our dog food in Europe and England. Percuro's recipes are approved by veterinarians , fully comply with FEDIAF nutritional guidelines and all our foods are rigorously tested.
Why choose Percuro instead of traditional meat-based food?
There are several reasons why you might be looking for an alternative to traditional, meat-based dog food for your dog: Many of our customers have looked for an alternative because they are concerned about their impact on the environment. Livestock farming and traditional meat production create huge amounts of carbon that harm our planet. Our ingredients and production methods are designed to have the lowest possible impact, and we don't need to use acres upon acres of farmland to produce our food.
Our insect is raised in a controlled environment and eats fruits and vegetables. Therefore, it does not contain any hidden nasties such as antibiotics or other chemicals.
In addition to pure insect proteins, Percuro adds only select plant-based ingredients that are low or anti-inflammatory and excludes common allergens such as soy, corn, or rice. Combined with naturally hypoallergenic insect proteins, our recipes are perfect for dogs with sensitive skin or tummies.
Does Percuro taste good or do dogs like it?
Dogs love it! An independent taste test showed that 92% of dogs preferred Percuro over meat-based food. Dogs are natural omnivores and will happily eat our insects and plant foods. Our recipes are designed to be as nutritious and delicious as possible.
Who is Percuro food suitable for?
Excellent clean insect protein is naturally hypoallergenic, ideal for dogs with food allergies. We exclude chicken and beef and other common allergens such as corn, wheat or soy. We carefully select our ingredients to be low inflammatory such as bare oats and peas, avoid highly inflammatory ingredients such as white or brown rice that can cause problems for sensitive dogs, and include ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil, yucca and omega 3-rich algae oil, which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties. Our insect protein source is disease-free and contains no antibiotics that you may find in traditional meat and fish ingredients.
How can I best transition my dog to a new food?
Dogs can have a negative reaction if you suddenly change their food, which can cause intestinal disturbances. When changing food to Percuro, you should do so within seven days to allow your dog time to adapt, avoiding problems such as gastrointestinal upset, vomiting and diarrhoea. As a rough guide, we recommend using the following formula:
Day 1-2: Add a small amount of new food to the standard food, about 25 % ;
Day 3-5: Gradually add more new food and remove old food, about 50%;
Day 6-7: leave about 75% new food and only a small part of the old;
